Phil Naukam
Phil, the oldest of four children, grew up in Buffalo, New York, where he was involved in competitive sports such as little league baseball, diving, and gymnastics. He was an 'all-around' gymnast at Kent State University in Ohio where he graduated in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in Conservation. In his junior year at college he married Bobi whom he had met on the gymnastics team there. After college, he volunteered for the United States Air Force and became a command pilot and twenty-year career officer.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in the fall of 1975, while attending a small Southern Baptist church in northern Maine. However, it was not until the fall of 2001 that he totally surrendered his life to the control of God. Due to his forty-year addiction to pornography, his life was out of control. In desperation he cried out to God, and He heard him. At this point, he embarked on a journey that led to his deliverance from pornography and the restoration of his marriage. He is involved with Celebrate Recovery, an international Christ-centered twelve-step program, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he facilitates groups and works with other men trapped in the snare of pornography and other relationship issues.
Bobi Naukam
Bobi lived in Springfield, Ohio, until she left to attend Kent State University in 1966. There she met her husband Phil while both of them were members of the KSU gymnastics team. Bobi graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology and became a career Air Force wife and mother shortly after completing college. She was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom until their three children were in school. Then she taught school for several years and home-schooled all three for a short time. The youngest was home-schooled until graduation from high school.
Bobi became a Christian while attending church in her childhood. After a time of rebellion during her college years, she began seeking God's will for her life while pregnant with their first son. God became her best Friend and Strength in the early years of marriage. When in 1997, she was confronted with the fact that Phil was addicted to pornography, her Friendship with God became even more important as she learned to trust Him completely as He worked a miraculous healing in their hearts and marriage. Bobi works with and encourages other women who are seeking God's healing in their individual lives and relationships with their husbands.
Phil and Bobi are licensed ministers through Believer's Church and World Outreach Inc. and speak to groups sharing the miracle story of their lives and how God worked in each of them. They offer tools that helped them not only to survive but also to thrive as He taught them to trust Him and to do whatever it took to become the man, woman, and couple of God that He desired them to be.
